Ash Day

Yes, usually, Wednesday is Green Day. This week, for today and tomorrow, we're talking about Ash Wednesday. In the spirit of that, however, remember the long-held practice by many churches to use last year's palm fronds for this year's ashes. Reuse!

Many people have trouble explaining what Ash Wednesday is to their friends or explaining that it's not just for Catholics. This video does an excellent job of explaining Ash Wednesday, even if they seem to nothing at all about the Lone Ranger*.

*The Lone Ranger was "lone" not because he worked on his own independently (note, Tonto was his faithful companion and friend, not sidekick). He was "lone" because he was the only one of a large group of Texas Rangers who survived an ambush. Also, Tonto was "lone" before he met the Ranger because he had no tribe. They were "lone" by circumstance and not choice. Together, they relied on one another to help others.

That was very good--except, as you said, the part about the Lone Ranger. Will share this.
